Charity
Throughout the year Radlett Preparatory School is involved in many fundraising events and activities for various charities, focusing on one main charity per term.
Your support and commitment to helping those less fortunate is very much appreciated and all gifts and donations are gratefully received. Thank you all so very much.
For Red Nose Day, we sold Red Noses to all the children, the School Councillors were given the task of collecting the money from the classes to take to the office. All the children and staff dressed up as either Superheroes or in red and there were fun activities for the children to get involved in.
This year we raised money for a local charity by holding an ‘Elf Run’ around the school. All the children were sponsored and wore an Elf hat! We raised over £4500, a remarkable achievement.
Every Autumn Term there is a Harvest Service at school when all the children are invited to make harvest donations which are displayed in the school hall and then taken to local homes for the elderly. Members of the Senior and Chamber Choirs also perform in local supermarkets towards the end of the Autumn Term to raise additional money for the main charity we are supporting.
Children from Year 6 sell poppies in support of the ‘Royal British Legion’ during November. The children in Year 6 also organise A Summer Fair and run their own stalls for their nominated charity.
Our School Council will sometimes initiate organising events and help raise the profile of the charity to boost the money collected. They collected money for the Pakistan flood victims after hearing about the suffering on the news.
Money was raised to name a Guide Dog puppy, Finley, and to pay for his training. The school regularly raises money for ‘The British Schools’ Museum’ in Hitchin .Children in Year 2 have a ‘Bring a Bear Day’ in summer to raise money for ‘Action Medical Research’.
Mufti days’ and sponsored challenges, from basketball shoot-outs to maths problem-solving, throughout the school year are a further means of raising money for charity.
We are most grateful for all donations made and a designated noticeboard, displaying information regarding events and amounts raises is located in the main hall.
