If your child is absent from school due to illness you should phone the School Office with details and they will inform the relevant teacher. You may send an email instead if you wish to [email protected]. On your child’s return you should send a letter to the Class Teacher which is kept for official purposes. This procedure enables the school to record the absence as ‘Authorised’, if this procedure is not followed, the absence will be recorded as ‘Unauthorised’. The School Office will contact any parent whose child is absent from school without notification after 9.30am by phone or ParentMail. Our Child Protection policy requires us to comply with these measures.
Should you wish to take your child/children out of school for pre-arranged medical appointments, religious observance, personal reasons, external exams or school interviews, you must complete the official Absence Request Form which is available from the School Office or can be downloaded (see below). You should complete the form and return it to the School Office to be authorised by either the Principal or the Vice Principal. A copy of the signed form, with a compliment slip, is then given to the Class Teacher and sent home. Please note, if you request leave of absence for your child/children for holiday purposes during term time, each request will be considered on an individual basis but will not normally be authorised and will be recorded as unauthorised absence in the school register.
Any parent who requests more than five days’ absence for their child/children from school within one academic year will need to make an appointment with the Principal or Vice Principals to discuss this request.
