Sport at Radlett Prep
Here at Radlett Prep School we are passionate about our sport and this is reflected in both the curriculum time given and the extensive fixture programme provided.
During the week, all children from Year 1 – Year 6 have one Games lesson and one PE lesson which is taught by specialist sports coaches, PE teachers as well as class teachers. Reception children only have PE lesson. In Games, the main sports are Football, Cricket, Netball and Rounders. The main focus of these lessons is to develop each child’s basic skills in a happy, productive and enjoyable environment, so they can thrive and maximise their potential. Both boys and girls also participate in local athletics and cross-country fixtures.
We hold a competitive Sports Day for each year group in the Summer Term.
At lunchtimes, as well as the team training sessions we also run badminton, gymnastics and table tennis clubs.
Teams and individuals from the School participate very successfully in local and regional sporting events. House matches also enable us to provide additional competition, enjoyment and excitement for all.
In PE children receive a well-balanced and high-quality education focusing on all pupils and inspiring them to succeed. We aim to provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way that supports and promotes health and fitness for lifelong enjoyment. We also know that playing sport builds character and develops values such as respect and fair play.
We hope that by the time pupils leave Radlett Prep they not only have a life-long love of sport, but also appreciate the opportunities and camaraderie that flourish within such an enjoyable environment.
