On 14th September 2022, our Art Club had the exciting opportunity to visit the Henry Moore Studios and Gardens in Much Hadham.
They explored the gardens where they were taught about the large, bronze sculptures and the inspiration behind them. They also examined his collection of interesting stones, animal bones and small sculptures in his studios.
The children enjoyed sketching the sculptures from a range of viewpoints and sharing their work with each other. As well as the staff sharing their knowledge, we were lucky to have Mr Warren share his wealth of knowledge and the children were excited to learn that he had actually met Henry Moore! The sunshine was glorious, and they had a fantastic, inspiring day!
Each term, the children will work on using different shades of a colour in both Key Stages.
Year 6 were asked to use different shades of a colour when creating a Georgia O’Keefe inspired still life.
In school we looked at parts of flowers and fruit, as well as other objects from nature. The children used bold, bright colours in the way Georgia O’ Keefe did.
