This morning, Mrs Flynn held a whole school Remembrance Assembly and explained why we wear poppies and why we hold a Remembrance Day every year on 11/11. The children all listened intently and they each wore a poppy. House Captains had been selling the poppies and other poppy merchandise around the school and to the parents each morning and afternoon throughout the week. We hope to have raised a lot of money!
At 11am, the whole school stood in silence for 2 minutes on the playground with the Union Jack Flag waving in the wind. The School Councillors from each class placed a ceramic poppy under the flag. The ceramic poppies were used originally at the Tower Of London!
