We had planned a wonderful day for all the children and their families to join us on the fields and have a Jubilee picnic. Bunting, balloons, music, flags, ice-cream van and coffee van (who was making iced-coffee for a hot day!) were all in place.
The children and staff were all getting very excited and looking forward to the event.
However, it wasn’t exactly what we had planned. The one thing we cannot rely upon, the weather, and it let us down today.
The children held their celebratory assembly, all dressed in red, white and blue and each year group either sang, presented, rapped or recited poetry, all of which were fantastic.
After break, the children all went out on the field where they were ushered into the shape of a 70 and our drone flew across and filmed them all waving, it was perfect! It was only drizzly at this point.
Not long after, the heavens opened and we had to make a decision to cancel the actual picnic. The parents still came and managed to buy ice-creams and coffees. Some families had picnics in their cars or in the reading hut. The children still had a lovely day and they were all given flags and a souvenir jubilee coin.
It was lovely having all the parents here and although it wasn’t perfect, the children had a wonderful day and one they will hopefully remember.
