Today, Thursday 11th November, we held a whole school assembly. The assembly was held by Mr King and Mrs Sklar. Mrs Sklar told a wonderful story about a young boy who went to a school locally, who became a House Captain and Team Captain amongst other things, and who went on to go to university. He was studying and working hard but then, due to the war, he had to leave and join the army. He rose up through the ranks in the army and received medals for his bravery, saving many lives and risking his own. At the end of the story, Mrs Sklar revealed that the young man in the story was indeed her grandfather! It was a very moving story and the children listened intently.
When all the children went outside to join in the national 2 minutes of silence, they were reminded of this brave man and all the other brave soldiers who gave so much to help us live our lives freely.
The School Councillors of each Year Group placed a ceramic rose, which were purchased a few years ago from the display at Windsor Castle, underneath our flagpole where the Union Jack was at half mast.
The children were absolutely silent and we were all very proud of them.
Thank you to everyone who purchased poppies and poppy merchandise over the last few days.
