On 22nd May, Year 3 enjoyed a marvellous Anglo-Saxon Day. The children and teachers dressed up and travelled back in time 1,600 years.
The children enjoyed a number of exciting activities, including a quiz and a board game and reconstructing the burial of an Anglo-Saxon king. In the afternoon the children wielded the shields and swords they had made in Art lessons to re-enact an Anglo-Saxon battle, with the armies of Wessex battling those of Mercia.
The day ended with a retelling of the story of Beowulf, with the hero slaying the monster Grendel.
