YEAR 4 – KNEBWORTH VISIT
Our Year 4 trip to Knebworth House was a perfect way to wrap up our Tudor topic as we approach the end of this half term unit! The day started with an engaging timeline overview of the Tudor period, where we learned about the first Tudor monarch, Henry VII, and followed the line all the way to the last Tudor, Elizabeth I. This really set the scene for the rest of the day.
We then had a guided tour of the house, where we discovered its connection to Queen Elizabeth I, who stayed there during her visit in 1571. The guides were excellent and were really impressed with the children’s knowledge about the Tudors!
After the tour, we had lunch outside at the picnic tables before exploring the outdoor spaces. The children enjoyed the herb ga
rden, maze, walled garden, and pond, all in perfect weather.
The Tudor-themed activities were a real hit, with the children trying on Tudor clothing and practicing calligraphy with pens. They also learned about Tudor food, armour, and family coats of arms. The trip tied in perfectly with our half-term topic on the Tudors, helping our Year 4 pupils to see how history connects to the real world. It was an enjoyable and educational day for everyone!
